Dr. Galina Gheihman is a practicing neurologist and resident supervisor at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She leads the NeuEJM Medical Journal, and is a developer of the Outpatient Neurology Series, which introduced mental health and well-being surveys and services into medical curricula.
She serves as a PCE advisor for Harvard Medical School, co-director of a Non-Neurologist CME Course, and member of the HMS Taskforce for Teacher Faculty Experience. Her writing includes academic articles and conference proceedings that explore innovative ways of teaching neuroscience in universities and medical programs.
Originally from Toronto, Ontario, Dr. Gheihman completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto before attending Harvard Medical School, where she earned her M.D. She completed her neurology residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, serving as chief resident from 2023–2024.
She is now a board-certified neurologist in Massachusetts and continues to advise and mentor medical students at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Gheihman has founded and directed multiple initiatives that transform how neurology is taught and practiced.
She founded a neuroscience simulation program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital for aspiring neuroscientists and medical students. This program offers early, hands-on exposure to neurology and patient care — promoting active learning before residency.
Dr. Gheihman co-founded BRAINS, a program that encourages bedside near-peer teaching among internal medicine residents. Junior students benefit from learning directly from residents who have recently gone through similar academic challenges, helping bridge the gap between theory and practice.
She is also the leader and co-founder of NeuFJM, a monthly medical education journal club, and the creator of Well-Rounded Wednesdays within the Outpatient Neurology Series. As the director of the CME (Continuing Medical Education) program, she focuses on supporting both medical students and faculty through innovative and empathetic curriculum design.
